Geological Solutions continuously strives to achieve quality, efficiency and commitment to our customers. In order to achieve and maintain our high standards, Geological Solutions has produced the most comprehensive safety health & welfare management system (SH&WMS) in use by any exploration/mining consultancy.

The company employs safety officers who demand the highest standards of safety from our team and everyone who enters a Geological Solutions work site. Failure to comply with these high standards is considered extremely serious and is not tolerated.

Training and Culture

Geological Solutions has a well developed corporate culture in relation to providing geological services in mining and exploration in Australia and abroad. Communication (particularly responsiveness to client and team needs), good training and insistence on high level of safety compliance and professional standards, personal and administrative support of field personnel, form the framework which ensures that services are delivered safely and in accordance with clients safety requirements.

The team are provided with training opportunities, informal guidance and advice, and formal resources including the Geological Solutions Geologist’s Field Quality Manual - Coal, to enable them to develop professionally as well as to address any issues of concern regarding performance.

One on one interactions between junior and senior site personnel are encouraged to provide professional support and ensure communication of issues. Team meetings in a social setting are organised with support of the Contract Managers to assist in team bonding on a regular basis.

Safety Standards

The Minimal Training requirements of all Field personnel in coal are as follows:

• Geologists - Degree in Geology or equivalent
• QLD Generic Coal Induction or equivalent
• QLD Coal Board Medical or equivalent
• Supervisors Course
• Four Wheel Drive and Defensive Driving course
• Senior 1st Aid and CPR

All Graduate Geologists spend approximately 1 month with an experienced geologist before they are allowed to commence a job by themselves.

To achieve such high standards of safety we have developed a culture that safety is the first step taken in any job and we expect that our team ingrain this culture into their own personal lifestyles to assure long-term success. The company communicates safety alerts/watches to its Team on a daily basis, which may include internal incidents, external industry related incidents and all alerts that have the potential to affect our Team, at work or at home.

All Geological Solution Team Members are required to successfully complete a safety induction upon employment and regular competencies (Coal Geologists Training Checklist) and Safety Audits are carried out on all Team Members. It is mandatory for all Team Members to carry Field Safety Handbook containing all the JSRA (Job Safety Risk Assessments) and JSWPs (Job Safety Work Procedure) at all times. All JSRA and JSWPs are reviewed on a yearly basis or on a needs basis and all team members are expected to complete a daily vehicle checklist prior to operating any type of vehicle.

Latest Development & Initiatives

Recently the company has created a Geologist’s Field Quality Manual-Coal (GFQM-C) to aid in the training of new Team Members. This QA manual provides the minimal requirements and expectations of the Team whilst performing their standard duties.
Geological Solutions is constantly developing and improving a Business Management System (BMS) and Quality Management System Manual (QMSM)

Another significant improvement program Geological Solutions has undertaken is the placement of all personnel through 4WD and Defensive Driving certification. This was a direct result of Geological Solutions identifying driving as the most dangerous task performed on a daily basis (through statistical analysis).

Whether it is Coal, Coal Bed Methane, Petroleum or Metals our safety standards are always maintained as we strive to provide quality & efficiency to our customers whilst maintaining the highest commitment to safety.
